I just picked up one of these and it is very light, very portable and very effective. The included carabiners ( 4 of them ) allow you to tie this up to trees, poles or what ever you can find to direct it to the sun. There is also an included micro USB cable for those devices that support it. I'm going to throw in a USB extension cable to get more distance away from the panel ( I'll be in the shade while using my device that is charging at the same time ). All these items will fit in the included zipper pouch pocket on the back side of the solar charging panel. Also you want to make sure you don't leave your phone, camera, table or other electronic in direct sunlight ( except for the solar panel itself ) to avoid damage from over heating.

The solar panel
folds in half and snaps together with magnets ( the 13 w version ). There is a built in kick stand that is also magnetized when not in use to keep it from flopping around.

I purposely decided to wait until the end of the day when there was about an hour to an hour and a half of direct sunlight in my area (about 4:30 pm). I sat the panel open and propped it up with the built in kick stand and pointed it directly at the sun. I noticed even before I pointed at direct sun that there was a red light that lit up on the back where the USB ports are This light indicates a charge is available to power your electronics. I then plugged in my USB cable for my iPad Air 2 and it immediately started charging. I'm very impressed with this because of its high efficiency even at the end of the day, and also that it was picki up indirect sunlight and still producing some type of charge.

I highly recommend this portable solar charging panel, because it's very effective, flexible and portable. I can throw this in my bag and just go. I also recommend paring this up with a portable battery bank (like a 10,000 Ma or above battery for your portable electronics http://amzn.to/1qCHlMi, which also has a solar panel ) so you can use the stored energy in the evening when there is no sunlight.

So if you are a prepper, or want to be ready for a power outage, or just want to be able to have the ability to charge devices while in the field, I'd highly recommend this device.
