Keep running
Lily Zhang
The first time I ran, like
really running, was that I ran with my friend, Yenia. It took me about 30
minutes to finish 4 KM. I've been running these days.
My alarm has been already setting
for 6:20 a.m, even though it's probably going to be rainy and definitely going
to be cold and even though most of the time, I really hate running. Sometimes I
really do not want to get up and sleep more. Sometimes my legs and waist were
pain. Sometimes I was tired. Too many reasons that I want to give it up. But I
have to run. Maybe you will ask me why. All I know is this: running is good for
me. I learnt to keep it up by running.
Although the weather is bad, I must run.
Although I am tired, I must run. I was sweating during my run. Running is the
kind of thing where you put in the time and expect to see results. Finally, you
will feel that it is easy to keep running every day. If you run too, you get
why.
It took me almost 10 days of
plodding along at 30 minutes for 4KM before I realized that I could call myself
a runner, no matter how slow I run. Some days, I'll barely go more than 4 KM,
and some days, I'll walk more than I jog. I may not have medals, but I have
fresh air, time alone, and tight quads.
For me, that's enough. I run,
so I am a runner.
